former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the situation of Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into that of a municipality. Supporting the statements of some leaders

While speaking to the media today, former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the situation of Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into that of a municipality. Supporting the statements of some leaders, he said that the central government needs to understand that about 80% of Jammu and Kashmir's area is forest, and only 20% is arable land. Thus, farming is not possible. The remaining area consists of large buildings, roads, railway stations, and industries.

He stated that today, it has become difficult for a common man to buy even a small piece of land in Jammu because the prices have skyrocketed, making it unaffordable for the average person. He also mentioned that the recent management of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019 by the central government is not right. Under this act, all powers have been given to the Lieutenant Governor, leaving the political parties powerless.

Ghulam Nabi Azad also pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir, which has been a state for the past 100 years, has been turned into a Union Territory, and its powers are gradually being reduced. The central government should consider how to embrace the people and connect with them.

He further questioned why political parties would contest elections when they would have no power. If they cannot resolve the people's issues or improve their conditions, then what is the point of contesting elections?
