Srinagar, Nov 06 – The General Administration Department (GAD) of Jammu and Kashmir has issued an official directive for all Administrative Secretaries to attend the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in Srinagar. This order underscores the government's commitment to ensuring that senior officials are actively engaged in legislative discussions, especially during critical debates such as the “Motion of Thanks” on the Lieutenant Governor’s address.
The memorandum, signed by Additional Secretary Rohit Sharma, stresses the importance of administrative presence in these sessions. It highlights that such participation is essential to maintain an effective dialogue between the government’s executive and legislative branches, thereby promoting transparency and accountability within the administrative framework.
The directive mandates that each department designate an officer, with a minimum rank of Additional Secretary, to be present at all times during the Assembly sessions. This full-time representation is aimed at ensuring that each department is well-represented and that any issues raised regarding their respective sectors can be promptly addressed. It also ensures that the Legislative Assembly’s proceedings run smoothly, as officers can provide immediate clarifications or information on matters related to their departments.
This move comes at a significant time, as the Legislative Assembly session addresses a variety of key issues pertinent to the region’s development and governance. By mandating the presence of Administrative Secretaries and senior officers, the government aims to foster a more collaborative environment that bridges the gap between legislative demands and administrative execution.
