In a major breakthrough in the ongoing war against drug trafficking under Operation Sanjeevani, the Jammu Police on Tuesday arrested a suspected drug peddler in Akhnoor and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession.
Acting on specific inputs, a police team from Police Station Akhnoor conducted routine naka checking at Old Bridge Nakka, Akhnoor. During the operation, a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to a thorough search, which led to the recovery of approximately 10 grams of a heroin-like substance.
The accused has been identified as Ghulam Abbas, son of Late Mohd. Bashir, a resident of Katar Mal, Tehsil Manjakot, District Rajouri. A case has been registered under FIR No. 97/2025 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Akhnoor. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover the drug supply network and other possible connections.
