The General Administration Department (GAD) of Jammu and Kashmir has released an advisory (Circular No. 24-JK(GAD) of 2024) dated October 31, 2024, regarding the regulation of vehicle entry and parking during the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory. The circular outlines a series of guidelines to ensure organized parking in and around the Civil Secretariat premises in Srinagar, aimed at maintaining security and order during the assembly proceedings.
Key Points of the Advisory
1. Designated Parking for Officials and Legislators:
Vehicles belonging to high-ranking officials, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Ministers, Speaker (pro-tem), and Legislators, are required to park in specified areas within the Assembly Complex, Srinagar.
2. Media and Staff Vehicle Parking:
Vehicles of print and electronic media personnel, along with those of Assembly staff, are to be parked in designated spaces within the Secretariat premises. This arrangement aims to minimize congestion and streamline media access.
3. Escort Vehicles:
All escort vehicles are designated to park in the area in front of Kashmir Haat (Exhibition Complex). This step is intended to organize the parking of security vehicles separately from official vehicles.
4. Restriction on Private Vehicles:
During the Assembly session, no private vehicles of officers, officials, or other employees will be permitted entry into the Secretariat premises, enhancing security and reducing overcrowding within the complex.
Cooperation Emphasized
The circular calls on all officers and officials working within the Civil Secretariat to fully support and cooperate with the Senior Superintendent of Police (Security) and Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) in enforcing these regulations.
The GAD has also instructed all Administrative Secretaries to ensure that these guidelines are communicated to employees in their respective departments, promoting widespread adherence to the advisory.
