Jammu and Kashmir: August 6, 2024 - The Youth Rajput Sabha today staged a massive protest in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding the restoration of the state's status. The Sabha members rallied in Jammu and organized their protests in various parts of the state.
The protestors carried placards and banners that read slogans like "Restore Statehood" and "Protect Our Rights." Addressing the gathering, the leaders of the Sabha stated that the central government violated the rights of the state's citizens by revoking Article 370 in 2019 and ending Jammu and Kashmir's special status.
The Sabha's president said, "Our ancestors struggled a lot for this state and gave it an identity. Restoring statehood is essential to protect our honor and dignity. The central government should immediately pay attention to this and respect the sentiments of the state's people."
The Sabha's spokesperson also mentioned that they would continue their protests on this issue and, if necessary, resort to hunger strikes and other peaceful demonstrations. He said the Sabha members would visit every district to raise awareness about this movement and strive to make it a mass movement.
During the protest, there was a heavy deployment of police, but the protest remained peaceful, and no untoward incidents were reported. Senior police officials stated that the situation was being closely monitored and that all necessary steps were being taken to maintain law and order.
The Youth Rajput Sabha's protest has drawn the attention of other organizations and citizens in the state, and several other organizations have also supported this demand. It will now be important to see what steps the central government takes on this issue and how it respects the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
