Jammu, July 26, 2024 - Widespread protests against the Power Development Department (PDD) are ongoing in Jammu city. Local residents and various organizations have been demonstrating against the PDD for the past hour.
Protesters are angry about the repeated power cuts and poor service provided by the PDD. They accuse the department of failing to fulfill promises to improve the power supply, with the problem worsening day by day. The protest includes a large number of locals, youth, traders, and people from various sections of society.
Protesters say that frequent power cuts during the summer have made life unbearable. Traders also complain that irregular power supply is affecting their businesses. The protesters demand that the PDD immediately resolve the electricity issue and ensure a regular supply.
Protesters staged a sit-in outside the PDD office and raised slogans. They also called on the government to investigate the functioning of the power department and take strict action against responsible officials.
The police tried to calm the protesters and assured them that their demands would be conveyed to the relevant authorities. However, the protesters remained adamant and said their protest would continue until their issues are resolved.
The protest has also affected traffic, causing jams on several routes. The administration has appealed to people to maintain peace and said all possible steps would be taken to address their issues.
