DC Samba Chairs NCORD Meeting to Strengthen Anti-Drug Measures


Samba, March 08:
In a strong push against the growing drug menace, Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan (IAS) chaired a high-level meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narcotics Coordination (NCORD) framework at the DC Office Complex, Samba.
The meeting focused on reviewing the Action Taken Report on anti-narcotics initiatives and outlining a multi-pronged strategy to dismantle drug networks while ensuring rehabilitation for affected individuals.
Key Directions by DC Samba
Ordered strengthening of the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at District Hospital Samba to improve outreach and treatment services.

Emphasised training teachers and educators as counsellors, recognising schools and colleges as the first line of defence against substance abuse.
Directed departments to organise Mega Awareness Camps under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

Encouraged youth engagement through sports and orientation programmes to divert them from drug abuse.
Focus on Awareness & Public Participation
Highlighting the importance of community involvement, the Deputy Commissioner stressed intensified awareness campaigns across the district.

Citizens were urged to make use of the national toll-free helpline MANAS (1933) to report drug-related activities anonymously. Additionally, the district helpline 7889720593 was highlighted as a key support system for individuals seeking counselling and treatment.

The meeting reaffirmed the administration’s firm commitment to making Samba a drug-free district through coordinated efforts, awareness, and rehabilitation.
