Pressure Horns Banned in J&K — Violators to Face Heavy Fine up to ₹10,000

Jammu/Srinagar: In a major crackdown on noise pollution and traffic violations, the Traffic Police in Jammu & Kashmir has intensified action against the use of illegal pressure horns across the Union Territory.
Authorities have made it clear that pressure horns, multi-tone horns, and modified loud horns are strictly prohibited under Rule 119 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR), 1989. Any vehicle found violating these norms will face strict penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, including fines of up to ₹10,000.

Officials stated that such horns create unnecessary noise, disturb the public, and pose serious risks, especially near hospitals, schools, and residential areas. The enforcement drive is aimed at ensuring safer and quieter roads.

Traffic Police teams have already started checking vehicles in multiple districts and warned that no violator will be spared. Commercial vehicle drivers have been specifically advised to remove illegal horns immediately to avoid action.
