Kathua, April 5: A tragic incident occurred late last night in the hilly tehsil of Bani in Kathua district, where a lightning strike during heavy rainfall led to the death of around 57 goats and 4 sheep in the Barmota Road area.

According to reports, the animals were grazing on the hills when sudden lightning struck, killing them on the spot. The incident has caused deep sorrow in the area, especially among the Gujjar community, as their livelihood largely depends on livestock.

Local residents have urged the administration to provide adequate compensation to the affected livestock owners to help them recover from the heavy loss.
