Jammu, March 25, 2026:

In a significant administrative action, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has suspended senior IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria with immediate effect over allegations of misappropriation of General Provident (GP) funds and irregularities in income tax deductions of police personnel.

According to an official order issued by the Home Department (Government Order No. 185-Home of 2026 dated March 25, 2026), the action has been taken pending an inquiry into the matter. The officer was serving as the Commandant of the 1st Border Battalion, Jammu, and had previously held the position of Commandant JKAP-4 Security Battalion.

The order states that preliminary findings indicate suspected financial irregularities related to GP fund handling and deductions involving personnel of the JKAP-4 Security Battalion. In light of the seriousness of the allegations, the government has deemed it appropriate to place the officer under suspension until further investigation is completed.

During the suspension period, the officer will remain attached to the Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.

The order was issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Chandrakar Bharti (IAS), with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor.

Further investigation is expected to determine the extent of the alleged misappropriation and any accountability in the case.
