Jammu, March 20, 2026:
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has officially announced the commencement of admissions for the academic session 2026–27. The online registration process for Balvatika and Class 1 will begin from March 20, 2026 (10:00 AM) and will remain open until April 2, 2026.
Parents seeking admission for their children in Class 1 must ensure that the child is between 6 to 8 years of age as on March 31, 2026. The admission process for Class 1 will be conducted through a lottery system (draw of lots), ensuring transparency and equal opportunity for all applicants.
According to KVS guidelines, priority categories play an important role in admissions. Children of Central Government employees are given top priority, followed by those of State Government employees, including teachers, defence personnel, and others. This gives a fair advantage to government employees applying for their wards.
Applicants are required to submit essential documents such as birth certificate, residence proof, service certificate of parents, and passport-sized photographs. Authorities have advised parents to ensure that all details are accurate to avoid rejection during verification.
Experts suggest that parents should apply to multiple Kendriya Vidyalayas in nearby areas to increase their chances of selection, especially in urban regions where competition is high.
It is important to note that while distance from the school may influence priority, final selection in Class 1 is based on the lottery system.
Parents are encouraged to visit the official KVS admission portal and complete the registration process within the stipulated time.
