Doda, March 20:
Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sh. Krishan Lal, a joint enforcement drive was conducted across Doda town and its adjoining areas in preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratras festivals.
The joint team, comprising officials from the Legal Metrology Department, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Revenue Department, and Veterinary Department, carried out extensive inspections of various market establishments to ensure strict compliance with government norms and regulations.
During the drive, more than 20 shops, particularly those dealing in essential commodities such as mutton and chicken, were thoroughly inspected under the relevant legal provisions of their respective departments.
As a result of the inspections, three challans were issued for violations, and a fine of ₹2,000 was imposed on the erring traders.
The enforcement team also inspected LPG dealers to ensure adherence to legal standards, with special focus on the OTP-based delivery system for domestic LPG cylinders. This step aims to ensure that LPG supplies reach genuine consumers without any irregularities.
To safeguard consumer interests during the festive season, shopkeepers dealing in food items and other essentials were strictly directed to avoid unfair trade practices. The team emphasized the importance of transparency, proper pricing, and quality standards to protect consumers from exploitation.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining market discipline and ensuring that citizens receive quality goods at fair prices during the festive period.
