In a significant move to boost tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, Honourable Chief Minister Omar Abdullah unveiled the much-anticipated 2025 Tourism Calendar and Trekking Maps. The unveiling ceremony, held in Srinagar, showcased the region's breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and adventure-filled trekking trails.

The 2025 Tourism Calendar offers a visual journey through the pristine beauty of J&K, highlighting major tourist destinations, vibrant festivals, and cultural events planned throughout the year. The trekking maps, designed to aid adventure enthusiasts, include detailed routes and information about prominent trails such as the Kolahoi Glacier Trek and the Gurez-Sonamarg Circuit, among others.

Speaking at the event, CM Omar Abdullah emphasized the government's commitment to positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a premier global travel destination. “J&K has unparalleled natural beauty, a unique cultural identity, and endless opportunities for adventure tourism. These new initiatives aim to provide tourists with a comprehensive guide to explore the region’s offerings while boosting the local economy and creating employment opportunities,” he said.

The Tourism Department collaborated with experts to design user-friendly trekking maps, providing safety tips, detailed terrain descriptions, and markers for accommodations and medical facilities along the routes. Additionally, the calendar and maps integrate QR codes for easy access to digital content, ensuring tourists have up-to-date information at their fingertips.

Prominent figures from the travel and hospitality industry, environmentalists, and adventure tourism operators attended the event. They lauded the government’s efforts to sustainably promote tourism in the region while preserving its ecological balance.

Adventure tourism hotspots like Kolahoi Glacier and Gurez-Sonamarg, known for their pristine beauty and thrilling experiences, were spotlighted as part of the new initiative. These trails, rich in biodiversity and cultural significance, are expected to attract trekking enthusiasts from across the globe.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to improve tourism infrastructure, including better road connectivity, eco-friendly accommodations, and promotion of homestay programs to enhance the visitor experience while empowering local communities.
