Gulmarg, December 8, 2024: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the picturesque tourist destination of Gulmarg today to review the ongoing construction of the convention hall, a landmark project aimed at boosting the region’s infrastructure for global events.
During his visit, Omar Abdullah expressed satisfaction with the progress of the state-of-the-art convention complex, which is expected to be completed by early next year. Once operational, the facility will position Gulmarg as a premier destination for international conferences, conventions, and film screenings. This development is anticipated to significantly enhance Gulmarg’s global appeal and provide a substantial boost to tourism in the region.
He was accompanied by Farooq Ahmad Shah, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing Gulmarg, and senior government officials overseeing the project. Omar Abdullah inspected the site, interacted with engineers and officials, and emphasized the importance of adhering to timelines and maintaining quality standards.
“This convention hall will not only bring global attention to Gulmarg but also create numerous opportunities for the local population. It is a step forward in developing Gulmarg into a world-class tourist and cultural hub,” Omar Abdullah stated during the visit.
The convention complex, strategically located amidst the serene beauty of Gulmarg, is designed to accommodate large-scale events while preserving the ecological balance of the area. It features modern amenities, including advanced audio-visual systems, conference rooms, and a large auditorium, catering to diverse international and domestic needs.
