Jammu & Kashmir Govt Keeps Order on TET Nodal Agency in Abeyance
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has kept in abeyance its recent order designating the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) / State School Standards Authority (SSSA) as the nodal agency for conducting the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in the Union Territory.
According to Government Order No. 87-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated February 26, 2026, the earlier Government Order No. 82-JK (Edu) of 2026 dated February 23, 2026 stands kept in abeyance until further orders.
The order references a judgment dated September 1, 2025 passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025 and connected matters titled Anjuman Ishat-E-Taleem Trust vs State of Maharashtra & Others, which appears to have influenced the government’s move.
The latest directive has been issued by the School Education Department and signed by the Commissioner/Secretary to the Government.
Further clarity regarding the conduct of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in Jammu and Kashmir is expected after additional directions from the authorities.
