Sakina Itoo Says ‘Not the Appropriate Time’ to Implement TET in J&K
Srinagar, February 25: Jammu & Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo has clarified that this is not the appropriate time to implement the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in the Union Territory.
Responding to growing concerns among teachers, the minister stated that although certain directives exist following Supreme Court observations regarding TET implementation across states, the J&K Government has not issued any fresh order for immediate enforcement.
Government to Study Implementation First
Sakina Itoo said the government will first examine how other states and Union Territories are implementing TET before taking any final decision in Jammu & Kashmir. She emphasized that many teachers have served for decades, and immediate enforcement could create unnecessary hardship.
