Jammu/Srinagar, December 2:
The Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) has hailed the School Education Department’s decision to constitute a high-level committee for drafting a uniform transfer policy for regularized teachers appointed under the Rehbar-e-Taleem (RReT) Scheme. The forum termed the move as long-pending and crucial for addressing the genuine concerns of thousands of teachers serving across the Union Territory.
In an official statement, JKReTTF Chief Spokesperson Muzafar Ahmad Wani said the forum has consistently advocated for a transparent, student-friendly, and fair transfer mechanism. He stated that the organization has repeatedly submitted written representations to successive governments and education authorities.
“Memorandums were submitted to Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Education Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo, and various education secretaries, directors, and senior officials from time to time. Today’s government order is a positive acknowledgment of our continuous struggle,” Wani said.
Forum Chairman Farooq Ahmed Tantray also welcomed the decision, describing it as a significant milestone in the long-standing fight of RReT teachers. He expressed hope that the committee will formulate a rational and need-based policy ensuring fairness, administrative discipline, and relief to teachers who have remained posted at the same stations for over two decades.
Tantray further extended gratitude to Education Minister Sakina Itoo and Secretary Education Ram Niwas Sharma (IAS) for initiating this long-awaited process, assuring full cooperation from the Forum in the policy-making stage.
He added that the Forum believes the committee, comprising senior officers of the department, will work diligently to deliver a just and student-centric policy benefiting both teachers and the education system.
