Udhampur, February 16: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, the police in Majalta have arrested two individuals with heroin during a routine vehicle checking operation at Baryalta on Plater road.
A police team from Police Station Majalta, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), was conducting routine vehicle inspections when they stopped a vehicle bearing registration number JK14K-0657 for checking. During the search, the police recovered 1.34 grams of heroin (Chitta) like contraband substance from the possession of the occupants.
Accused Identified
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. Ajay Singh, son of Om Parkash, resident of Kail, Majalta.
2. Karan Singh, son of Rattan Singh, resident of Makwal, Ramkot.
Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 18/2025 at Police Station Majalta under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act). Further investigation into the case has been initiated to uncover any possible links to a larger drug network.
The police have intensified their efforts to curb drug-related activities in the region and have urged the public to report any suspicious activities. The local administration has reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring a drug-free society.
