Kishtwar, September 2: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kishtwar, Ghulam Rasool-JKAS, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the district for ongoing Assembly Election 2024, chaired an important meeting today with media persons to discuss the guidelines for media coverage during the election period in consonance with MCC.
During the meeting, ADDC Kishtwar emphasized the critical role of the media in maintaining the highest standards of journalism and responsible reporting, ensuring a free and fair electoral process.
He urged media personnel to strictly adhere to the established guidelines, which includes ensuring that all information is thoroughly verified before publishing or broadcasting. This includes cross-checking data with official sources and reputable references to prevent the dissemination of unverified or speculative reports.
Media personnel were reminded to maintain impartiality and avoid any bias in their reporting, upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
The ADDC stressed the importance of adhering to the Election Commission's regulations and guidelines on media coverage during elections. He also highlighted the need to use credible sources and accurately attribute information to avoid spreading misinformation.
Media was advised to avoid sensational or provocative headlines that could potentially influence voter opinion, thus ensuring an unbiased and informed electorate.
