Samba Police Cracks Jakh Murder Case Within Hours; Main Accused Arrested, Weapon Recovered


Samba, October 6, 2026: Samba Police has achieved a major breakthrough in the Jakh murder case in Vijaypur, arresting the main accused within hours of the incident and recovering the weapon allegedly used in the crime.

The case has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur under FIR No. 163/2026 under Sections 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 3/27 of the Arms Act.

According to police, at around 5:40 PM on October 5, 2026, information was received at Police Station Vijaypur regarding a firing incident at Jakh near the Power House. Police immediately responded to the spot and initiated an investigation.

During the incident, Atish Sharma alias Attu, son of Omkar Nath and resident of Jakh, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba, sustained firearm injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the spot.

During the preliminary investigation, police identified Nikhil Sharma, son of Bawa Ditta, resident of Jakh Bagla Rajinderpura, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba, as the main accused. Police stated that the accused allegedly fired at the deceased following a land dispute.

A case was accordingly registered and investigation taken up.

Acting swiftly, a police team from Police Station Vijaypur arrested Nikhil Sharma within hours of the commission of the offence. During investigation, the accused allegedly disclosed his involvement in the crime.

Based on the disclosure, the pistol allegedly used in the offence was recovered in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and taken into possession as per the prescribed procedure.

Further investigation is underway to establish all facts and circumstances connected with the case.
