SRINAGAR, October 6: Chief Minister today chaired a meeting to review preparations for the third edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled to be held on October 25.
The event will feature Full and Half Marathons, along with a three-day Marathon Expo. With a total prize pool of ₹3.17 crore, the marathon is expected to attract runners and participants from across India and abroad.
A dedicated J&K Local category will also be introduced to encourage and reward local runners.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the Tourism Department to ensure seamless inter-departmental coordination and comprehensive arrangements for runners.
He also stressed focused publicity and promotional activities to attract participants from across India and abroad.
The Chief Minister further directed that future editions should include an untimed fun run and virtual races to broaden participation.
The Kashmir Marathon is expected to further strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s position as a destination for sports tourism and major sporting events.
