JAMMU & KASHMIR, Sept 1: The protest by MBBS and BDS interns over stipend-related issues entered its second day on Monday, with interns continuing demonstrations across Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The protesting interns have raised concerns regarding the delay and discrepancies in the payment of their stipends. They have urged the authorities to address their grievances and ensure timely and uniform disbursement of stipends.

Interns said that they are performing clinical duties and handling responsibilities as part of their mandatory internship, and therefore deserve timely payment for their services.

The protests were reported at various GMCs across the Union Territory, with interns calling for immediate intervention by the concerned authorities.

The protesting students have appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir administration and health authorities to hold discussions with their representatives and resolve the matter at the earliest.

The interns maintained that they would continue their protest until their demands are addressed, while also urging the authorities to take steps to prevent similar issues in the future.
