Kulgam, September 19, 2026: Minister for Education, Jammu & Kashmir, Sakeena Masood Itoo, inaugurated the Inter-District Baseball Competition at Government Higher Secondary School, Kulgam.

The event brought together young athletes and provided them with an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting talent, discipline and competitive spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasised the importance of sports in the overall development of young people. She highlighted the need to provide students with platforms where they can showcase their abilities, build confidence and pursue excellence in sports.

The event also underlined the importance of strengthening sports infrastructure and nurturing sporting talent across Jammu & Kashmir. Such initiatives provide youth with opportunities to remain active, develop discipline and contribute towards building a healthier and more vibrant generation.

The Youth Services and Sports Department has been conducting inter-district sporting competitions to provide young athletes opportunities to participate at competitive levels. Recent reporting also confirms the conduct of an inter-district U-19 boys’ baseball tournament in Kulgam.
