Srinagar, September 8: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister Miss Sakina Itoo, along with senior party leaders, functionaries and workers, today paid rich tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his death anniversary.

The leaders recalled Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s enduring contribution to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and his significant role in the political history of the region. They described him as a towering mass leader whose political journey remained closely associated with the aspirations, dignity and welfare of the people.

Paying her tributes, Minister Sakina Itoo recalled his historic legacy and lifelong commitment to public welfare. She said his politics was rooted in the upliftment of the weaker sections, strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that the voice of the common people remained central to governance.

The leaders highlighted Sheikh Abdullah’s vision of democracy, social justice, secularism, dignity and empowerment, stating that these values continue to inspire generations.

On the occasion, the National Conference reaffirmed its commitment to carrying forward the ideals associated with Sher-e-Kashmir and working towards peace, development, social justice and the welfare of all sections of society.

The gathering also called upon the younger generation to draw inspiration from Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s life of public service and dedication to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sher-e-Kashmir’s legacy, the leaders said, continues to live on in the aspirations for dignity, justice and a better future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
