Srinagar, September 2: Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir today reviewed the progress of major highway and tunnel projects worth nearly ₹40,000 crore being executed across the Union Territory.

The review meeting focused on the status of key infrastructure projects aimed at improving road connectivity, reducing travel time and strengthening all-weather connectivity between different regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Secretary took stock of the progress of ongoing works, including major highway stretches and strategically important tunnels. The concerned departments and executing agencies briefed the meeting on the physical and financial progress of the projects, land-related matters, clearances and other issues affecting timely completion.

The Chief Secretary stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders and directed the concerned agencies to resolve bottlenecks on priority. He called for regular monitoring of project timelines and adherence to quality standards to ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated schedules.

The projects, once completed, are expected to significantly enhance connectivity across J&K, facilitate smoother movement of people and goods and provide a major boost to tourism, trade and the overall economy of the Union Territory.
