Anantnag, September 14, 2026:

Anantnag Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 4.30 grams of charas during routine checking near Bypass Library, Anantnag.

According to police, a team from Police Station Anantnag intercepted a motorcycle during checking and identified the rider as Jahangir Yaqoob, son of Mohd. Yaqoob Bhat, a resident of Hanji Dantar, Anantnag.

During a search, police recovered 4.30 grams of charas from his possession.

Police said that FIR No. 306/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and further investigation is underway.

Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against drug trafficking and working towards a drug-free society.
