Vijaypur, Jammu, August 21, 2026: A grand Sanskrit Shobha Yatra and anti-drug rally was organised in Vijaypur on Friday on the occasion of Sanskrit Month, with a focus on preserving Sanskrit, promoting Indian culture and spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
The rally was organised by MV International School, Vijaypur, in collaboration with Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust. It began near J&K Bank in Vijaypur Market and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, parents, representatives of social and religious organisations, and prominent citizens.
Carrying placards and banners carrying messages on Sanskrit, Indian culture and the dangers of drug abuse, students raised awareness among the public. The rally passed through various areas of Vijaypur before proceeding towards the railway station.
Chief Guest SSP Samba Anuj Kumar said that drug abuse is a serious challenge facing society and that it cannot be tackled through police action alone. He emphasised that families, schools, society and religious institutions must work together to protect the younger generation.
He said that the energy of youth can be channelled towards education, sports, moral values and constructive activities to keep them away from drugs. He urged parents to strengthen communication with their children and appealed to students to stay away from drugs and encourage others to do the same.
Speaking about the importance of Sanskrit, SSP Anuj Kumar said that Sanskrit represents India's rich cultural, spiritual and intellectual heritage. He stressed that young people should remain connected with their culture and traditions alongside modern education.
Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of the Trust, described Sanskrit as a carrier of India's ancient knowledge tradition and culture. He said that along with preserving Sanskrit, greater emphasis must be placed on imparting values and building strong character among the youth. He termed the Sanskrit Shobha Yatra and anti-drug rally a meaningful convergence of social and cultural awareness.
School Manager Gaurav Abrol said that the school's objective is not only to educate students but also to develop them into responsible, cultured and socially aware citizens. He expressed gratitude to the students, teachers, parents, Trust members, social and religious organisations, administration and police department for their support in making the event successful.
Former DDC Shilpa Dubey, SP Samba G.R. Bhardwaj, DSP Dr. Sumit Sharma, former councillor Ravi Kumar, Amit Jamwal, Honey Singh, Aman Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta and several other prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
