Samba, August 1, 2026: In a major success in its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking, Samba Police arrested two alleged lady drug peddlers and recovered approximately 100 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur.

According to police, acting on reliable information, a team from Police Station Vijaypur launched a swift operation on Tarapur Road and intercepted two women who were moving towards Vijaypur under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, police recovered around 100 grams of heroin-like substance, which was immediately seized.

The accused have been identified as Noora Jan, wife of Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa and daughter of Masoom Ali, a resident of Sarore, and Noor Jahan, wife of Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa and daughter of Miya Bashir, a resident of Rakh Barotian. Both are presently residing at Rahya, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba. They were arrested on the spot following the recovery.

Police have registered FIR No. 133/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Vijaypur, and an investigation has been initiated to trace the forward and backward linkages of the drug supply network.

During the investigation, police also found that Mohd Yaqoob alias Yooqa, the husband of both accused women, is a notorious alleged drug peddler and is reportedly involved in 17 cases under the NDPS Act and other criminal offences registered in the districts of Jammu, Samba, and Reasi. Police said further investigation is underway to identify and dismantle the entire narcotics network.

Reiterating its commitment to eliminating the drug menace, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Samba, stated that the district police will continue its relentless drive against drug trafficking and take strict legal action against those involved in narcotics-related activities. He emphasized that no drug peddler or trafficker will be spared under the law.
