Srinagar, August 23, 2026: A public darbar was held at Hotel Royal Palace, Buchwara, Dalgate, under the chairmanship of General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Hon’ble MLA Khanyar, Haji Ali Mohammad Sagar.
Officials from the J&K Water Supply and Sewerage Mission (JCA SMC), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Srinagar and other senior officials were present during the public outreach programme. Several issues raised by local residents were resolved on the spot.
During the darbar, several major development projects were also announced. These include a ₹3.5 crore Nishat project aimed at addressing colour and odour issues in the water supply, benefiting around 3.5 lakh people, particularly residents of downtown Srinagar. The project is targeted for completion by December 2026.
A new water reservoir at Dalgate, estimated to cost ₹1.5 crore, was also announced. In addition, work on a Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at Buchwara is expected to commence by the end of this year.
The public darbar witnessed a large turnout of local residents, who raised various civic and public service-related concerns. Locals also appreciated the initiative, describing the direct interaction with officials and elected representatives as a useful platform for addressing their grievances.
The outreach programme highlighted the administration's focus on improving essential public services, particularly water supply and healthcare facilities, in the Srinagar area.
