Pre & Post-Matric Scholarship Applications Open for SC Students in J&K for 2026-27




Jammu, August 17: The Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has invited applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) students for the academic year 2026-27 through the Government of India’s National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Under the notification, Pre-Matric Scholarship is available for SC students studying in Classes 9th and 10th, while the Post-Matric Scholarship is available for SC students studying from Class 11th onwards.

The NSP portal opened for applications on 10 July 2026, and the last date for students to submit their applications is 31 August 2026. The deadline for INO-level verification is 15 September 2026, while DNO-level verification must be completed by 1 October 2026.

Students have been advised to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal at www.scholarships.gov.in. Applicants are required to have a One Time Registration (OTR), which is a unique number allotted to students for applying for scholarships on the NSP.

For generating the OTR, students are advised to install the Face RD App and NSP OTR App from the Google Play Store and complete face authentication through the “eKYC with FaceAuth” option on the NSP mobile application.

After generating the OTR and password, students can apply for the scholarship by providing the required details. Detailed instructions and frequently asked questions are available on the NSP homepage.

The notification also advises eligible universities, institutes, colleges and schools to complete their registration, KYC, Aadhaar-demo authentication and bio-authentication processes at the earliest so that students can apply and institutions can complete verification within the prescribed timelines.

Documents Required

Applicants may need to provide the following documents:

- Aadhaar Card
- Domicile Certificate (Dispensation)
- Category Certificate
- Aadhaar-seeded bank account details/passbook first page showing the correct account number and IFSC
- Income Certificate from Tehsildar
- Previous year's passed-class marks sheet
- Original fee receipt of the current class
- Aadhaar-linked mobile number and email ID

Eligible students are advised to complete their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute difficulties.
