Jammu & Kashmir: Peaceful protests have begun across government medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir as medical students and interns continue to press for a long-pending increase in their stipends.

The protesters are seeking an early revision of the stipend, stating that the existing amount does not adequately reflect the workload, responsibilities and rising cost of living faced by medical trainees.

Students and interns reportedly held peaceful demonstrations on their respective campuses, raising slogans and submitting their demands to the concerned authorities. They have appealed to the administration and the health department to address the issue at the earliest.

The protesting medical trainees have maintained that their demand is not against the system but is aimed at securing a fair and timely revision of their stipend.
