PDP Stages Protest Against 6.83% Electricity Tariff Hike in J&K

PDP Stages Protest Against 6.83% Electricity Tariff Hike in J&K
Srinagar: Senior leaders and workers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Party General Secretary Mohd Khursheed Alam, staged a strong protest against the 6.83% hike in electricity tariffs in Jammu and Kashmir, describing the decision as another burden on the people.

The protesters criticised the government for increasing electricity charges at a time when households are already facing rising costs and mounting financial pressures. They said the tariff hike would further affect ordinary families struggling to manage their daily expenses.

Addressing the protest, PDP leaders said electricity is an essential service and should not become a source of revenue at the expense of the common people. They urged the government to take into account the economic difficulties being faced by households across Jammu and Kashmir.

The party demanded that the 6.83% tariff hike be rolled back immediately, maintaining that people were expecting relief from the elected government rather than additional financial burdens.

The PDP said the government must prioritise public welfare and take decisions that provide relief to consumers, particularly at a time when the cost of essential goods and services continues to rise.

The protest reflects the PDP's growing opposition to the electricity tariff increase and its demand for measures aimed at reducing the financial burden on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
