Leh, August 21: The Union Territory of Ladakh has announced preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections and has sought necessary action from the State Election Commission (SEC) to facilitate the electoral process.

The administration has asked the SEC to undertake the revision and updating of electoral rolls for the Panchayat elections, ensuring that eligible voters are included and electoral records are properly updated.

The authorities have also requested the SEC to issue the formal election notification so that the election process can proceed according to the prescribed schedule.

The Panchayat elections are expected to strengthen grassroots democracy and provide people in rural areas of Ladakh an opportunity to elect their local representatives.

The revision of electoral rolls and issuance of the election notification are key steps before the polling process can formally begin.
