Kathua, August 18: Continuing its drive against illegal mining and transportation of construction material, J&K Police Kathua has seized six vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining activities in Billawar, Chadwal and Dinga Amb areas.
The action was carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, IPS.
On August 17, police teams led by the SHO Police Station Billawar and Incharge Police Post Ramkot, under the guidance of SDPO Billawar, seized four vehicles during patrolling in the Ramkot and Billawar areas. The seized vehicles included one dumper bearing registration number JK08K-9245, allegedly driven by Mukesh Singh, son of Omkar Singh, resident of Dinga Amb, and three tractor-trolleys bearing registration numbers JK08R-5045, JK08P-1505 and JK08P-286.
The vehicles were allegedly carrying sand without valid permission.
Meanwhile, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Chadwal, under the guidance of SP Operations Kathua, SDPO Border and SHO Police Station Rajbagh, seized another tractor-trolley bearing registration number JK08E-1046 in the Chadwal area for allegedly transporting mining material without legal permission.
In a separate action, the SHO Police Station Hiranagar, under the guidance of SP Operations Kathua and SDPO Border, seized a dumper bearing registration number JK08P-5812 at Dinga Amb Naka. The vehicle, allegedly driven by Pawan Kumar, son of Hans Raj, resident of Battal, was found carrying bajri without the required Form-A.
The six seized vehicles — four tractor-trolleys and two dumpers — have been handed over to the Geology and Mining Department, Kathua, for further legal action.
Kathua Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mining material in the district.
