India-Myanmar Joint Steering Committee Reviews Bilateral Cooperation in Power Sector
Naypyitaw, August 18, 2026: The 7th India-Myanmar Joint Steering Committee meeting on Power was held in Naypyitaw today to review and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the power sector.
The meeting was co-chaired by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, and U Aye Kyaw, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Electric Power & Energy, Government of Myanmar.
Both sides reviewed the discussions held during the 8th Joint Working Group meeting on August 17, 2026, in Naypyitaw, focusing on key areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions centred on strengthening collaboration in cross-border power trade, grid connectivity, capacity building and power sector infrastructure development.
The two sides emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation and institutional collaboration to further develop the power sector and explore opportunities for deeper energy partnerships between India and Myanmar.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to advancing bilateral cooperation in the power sector and promoting mutually beneficial energy collaboration.
