Poonch, August 17, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma chaired a meeting at the DC Office Meeting Hall to review and finalize arrangements for the peaceful and smooth observance of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in the district.

The meeting was attended by SSP Shafket Hussain Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, senior officers from the district administration and police departments, besides religious scholars, Muftis and prominent citizens.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on security arrangements, traffic management, sanitation, uninterrupted power and water supply, medical facilities, fire and emergency services, food safety and cleanliness around religious places, along with other essential civic amenities.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to make adequate arrangements well in advance and maintain close coordination with religious representatives and the local community. He stressed that all necessary facilities should be ensured so that devotees and the general public can participate in religious programmes peacefully and without inconvenience.

Emphasizing the importance of peace, brotherhood, communal harmony and mutual respect, the DC said that Poonch has a long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence and urged people to uphold this cherished tradition.

He also called upon religious leaders and prominent citizens to actively contribute towards promoting harmony, peace and prosperity in society, and urged everyone to celebrate the festival in a spirit of unity and mutual respect.
