Budgam: Deputy Commissioner Budgam Athar Aamir Khan, along with SSP Budgam Hariprasad KK, chaired the 50th District-Level Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) meeting to review measures for combating drug abuse and strengthening the district’s anti-narcotics efforts.
During the meeting, concerned departments were directed to intensify Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities to create greater awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, particularly among youth.
Authorities were also instructed to maintain strict vigil around educational institutions and schools, take firm action against drug peddlers and step up efforts to identify and destroy illegal cultivation of narcotic crops.
The meeting further stressed the need for 100 per cent CCTV coverage and proper billing at chemist shops to prevent the misuse and illegal sale of medicines.
The administration also emphasised that the fight against drug abuse must go beyond enforcement, with greater focus on treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals affected by substance abuse.
The officials directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and adopt a comprehensive approach to making Budgam safer and drug-free.
