Jammu & Kashmir, August 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess preparations for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026, scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the arrangements and programme for the four-day festival, which will feature a diverse range of film screenings, masterclasses for emerging filmmakers and vibrant cultural performances.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to ensure that the festival provides a strong platform for showcasing Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. He stressed that the region’s traditional cuisine, handicrafts, art forms, heritage and iconic tourist destinations should be prominently showcased before national and international visitors.
Omar Abdullah called for meticulous planning and effective coordination among all concerned departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the festival.
He emphasised that the inaugural edition of IFFJK should set a high standard and contribute towards establishing Jammu & Kashmir as an attractive destination for filmmakers, artists and cultural enthusiasts from across the world.
The Chief Minister further stressed the importance of seamless inter-departmental coordination, quality arrangements and professional execution so that the festival can evolve into a premier annual event on the global film calendar.
The International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir is expected to provide a significant platform for filmmakers and artists while simultaneously promoting the region’s unique culture, tourism and creative potential on the international stage.
