Kishtwar, August 17, 2026: Under the directions of Principal Census Officer and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), an awareness vehicle was flagged off on Monday by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Sh. Vinod Kumar Behnal (JKAS), to strengthen public awareness and encourage active participation in Census-2027 Phase II.
The awareness campaign aims to sensitise residents across District Kishtwar about the ongoing Self-Enumeration process and the subsequent house-to-house population enumeration exercise.
Self-Enumeration commenced on August 17, 2026, and will continue until August 31, 2026, allowing citizens to submit their population-related information themselves through the designated Census platform.
Following the Self-Enumeration phase, the main population enumeration will be conducted from September 1 to September 30, 2026. During this period, trained Enumerators and Supervisors will visit households across the district to collect population-related information through door-to-door enumeration.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Kishtwar Vinod Kumar Behnal urged the people to actively participate in Census-2027 and make maximum use of the Self-Enumeration facility.
He stressed that accurate and complete participation by every household is essential for ensuring a reliable and comprehensive Census. He further highlighted the importance of accurate Census data for effective developmental planning, informed policy formulation and the overall socio-economic development of Kishtwar district as well as the country.
The awareness vehicle will travel through different parts of the district, with special emphasis on remote and far-flung areas, to disseminate information about the Census exercise and ensure that no household or individual is left out.
The District Administration has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with Census officials and extend their full support for the successful completion of Census-2027 Phase II in District Kishtwar.
