Anantnag, August 16, 2026: Anantnag Police has busted a gambling racket at Dodh Kol Nad, Baghdar, and apprehended five persons allegedly involved in gambling activities.

Acting on reliable information, a police team reached the spot and apprehended the five individuals. During the operation, cash amounting to ₹22,800 was recovered from their possession.

The arrested persons have been identified as Basit Muzaffar, Aashiq Hussain, Irshad Ahmad Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and Riyal Ahmad Reshi.

In connection with the incident, FIR No. 268/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Anantnag. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

Anantnag Police reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against gambling and other unlawful activities. The police also urged members of the public to report information regarding such activities to the authorities.
