Samba, July 11: The Darshan Memorial Volleyball Tournament commenced with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit today at Daki village in the Sumb area. The opening ceremony was attended by Police Post In-charge Balveer Kumar as the chief guest. Senior journalist Pankaj Sharma from Sumb Update also graced the occasion, interacted with the players, and officially inaugurated the tournament by conducting the toss.
The opening match of the tournament was played between the Paswal and Bansis Hiranagar teams. Both sides displayed an impressive performance, but Paswal emerged victorious after an exciting contest, defeating Hiranagar in the opening fixture.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from local youth and sports lovers, who gathered in large numbers to cheer for the participating teams. During the programme, senior journalist Pankaj Sharma encouraged the organising committee by presenting them with a cash contribution as a token of appreciation. He also motivated the players to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship and continue striving for excellence.
