Samba, June 2, 2026:
In a significant step towards strengthening security preparedness and emergency response capabilities, Samba Police conducted a comprehensive mock drill based on a terrorist attack scenario at the Central University of Jammu, Rahya Suchani, Vijaypur.
The exercise was led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Samba, along with DySP SOG Samba and SHO Police Station Vijaypur. The mock drill was designed to assess the readiness of security and emergency response agencies in dealing with a simulated terrorist attack within the university campus.
Several agencies actively participated in the exercise, including teams from the National Security Guard (NSG), Health Department, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Civil Defence Samba, and media documentation units. The coordinated operation focused on rapid response, area domination, civilian evacuation, rescue operations, threat neutralization, bomb detection and disposal, and emergency medical assistance.
During the drill, a simulated terrorist attack was staged inside the university premises. Security forces responded swiftly to contain the situation, secure the area, and conduct tactical operations. The Bomb Disposal Squad carried out searches for suspicious objects and explosive devices, while medical teams provided immediate first aid and evacuation support to mock casualties.
The Civil Defence team played an important role in crowd management, evacuation procedures, and assisting emergency responders throughout the exercise. The drill also helped participating agencies evaluate their communication systems, operational coordination, and response strategies under simulated real-time conditions.
Following the successful completion of the exercise, a detailed debriefing session was held where participating agencies reviewed the operation, shared observations, and discussed measures to further strengthen emergency response mechanisms.
The university administration extended full cooperation during the exercise and appreciated the efforts of Samba Police and all participating agencies in enhancing campus security awareness and preparedness.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba emphasized that regular mock drills are essential for maintaining a high level of readiness among security and emergency response agencies. He stated that such exercises help identify operational gaps, improve coordination, and build confidence in effectively handling crisis situations.
