One More Drug Peddler Held in Samba; 17.79 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance Recovered

Samba, June 11, 2026: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Samba Police has arrested another alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 17.79 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from his possession in the Ghagwal area.
According to police officials, a team from Police Station Ghagwal was conducting routine patrolling in the Harsath area when they intercepted a pedestrian moving from Ghagwal towards Harsath under suspicious circumstances. During a search, police recovered around 17.79 grams of heroin-like substance from the individual.

The accused has been identified as Omkar Bhagat alias Gusha, son of Raj Kumar, a resident of Hamirpur, Tehsil Marheen, District Kathua. He was taken into custody on the spot, and the recovered contraband was seized.

Police have registered FIR No. 60/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ghagwal, and further investigation is underway to ascertain possible links to wider drug trafficking networks.

Samba Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and urged citizens to actively support law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in their localities.
