Kathua, June 11: In a major success against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police Kathua recovered approximately 550 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance and arrested an interstate drug smuggler during a special operation in the Banyari area of Rajbagh.
According to police officials, the operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs received from reliable sources. A special checking naka was established by a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Rajbagh, with assistance from Police Post Marheen, under the supervision of senior officers.
During the operation, police intercepted and apprehended a suspect identified as Puppy, son of Shah Din, a resident of Kalichpur, Tehsil Dinanagar, District Gurdaspur, Punjab. The accused was reportedly travelling from Punjab towards Marheen via the border road.
Upon searching the suspect, police recovered approximately 550 grams of heroin (commonly known as Chitta) from his possession. The contraband was immediately seized and the accused was taken into custody.
A case has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh under FIR No. 135/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover possible links to a wider drug trafficking network.
The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua.
