Lt. Gen. Harpal Singh Calls on J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Reviews Road Infrastructure Projects



Srinagar, June 4: Lt. Gen. Harpal Singh, AVSM, VSM, Director General Border Roads, along with Brig. Chirag Ghura, Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday to discuss key road infrastructure projects across the Union Territory.
During the meeting, the officials held detailed discussions on the status of ongoing road development works being undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and reviewed plans for future infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving connectivity in remote and strategically important areas.
The deliberations focused on accelerating critical road projects, enhancing transportation networks, and strengthening infrastructure to support economic growth and regional development across Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appreciated the efforts of the Border Roads Organisation in improving road connectivity, particularly in challenging terrains, and emphasized the importance of timely completion of ongoing projects. He highlighted the vital role of modern infrastructure in boosting tourism, trade, and overall socio-economic development in the region.
Lt. Gen. Harpal Singh briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of various BRO projects and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that meets the growing needs of the Union Territory.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to ensure the successful implementation of ongoing and upcoming projects, with a shared focus on enhancing connectivity and facilitating development across Jammu and Kashmir.
