Chandigarh, June 8, 2026: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the 2nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone-II North Zone Conference in Chandigarh on June 8, 2026. The two-day conference is expected to bring together Speakers, Deputy Speakers, Members of Legislative Assemblies, and parliamentary experts from various States and Union Territories of the North Zone.

The conference will serve as an important platform for strengthening parliamentary cooperation and promoting the exchange of best legislative and parliamentary practices among participating legislatures. It will also facilitate meaningful discussions on key issues of regional and national significance.

The central theme of the conference is “Role of Aware Society and Legislators in Realizing Future Challenges and Goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.” During the deliberations, dignitaries and participants will brainstorm on strategies to address future challenges and contribute towards the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The event aims to encourage constructive dialogue on governance, public participation, legislative effectiveness, and policy innovations. Participants will discuss ways to enhance the role of legislatures in promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.

According to the organizers, the conference will help strengthen democratic institutions, foster collaboration among legislators, and promote the sharing of innovative practices that can benefit governance across the country.
