Srinagar, June 9: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javed Ahmad Dar, chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the preparations for the forthcoming observance of Muharram-ul-Haram 2026 across Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed arrangements related to essential services, including drinking water supply, electricity, sanitation, healthcare, traffic management, and other civic amenities to ensure the smooth conduct of Muharram gatherings and processions.

Officials from various departments briefed the Minister on the preparedness measures being undertaken and the coordination mechanisms put in place for the occasion.

Javed Dar emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and directed officials to ensure that all necessary facilities are made available to the public. He stressed that devotees should not face any inconvenience during the observance of Muharram.

The Minister also instructed concerned departments to remain vigilant and responsive to public requirements, ensuring seamless service delivery throughout the religious event.

The administration reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the observance of Muharram-ul-Haram in a peaceful, orderly, and respectful manner.
