Srinagar, June 08, 2026: In a significant development for teacher aspirants across Jammu and Kashmir, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has forwarded a proposal regarding the de-freezing of vacancies for the recruitment of General Line Teachers (GLTs).

According to an official communication dated June 08, 2026, issued by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir, a consolidated proposal has been submitted to the Administrative Department after examining information received from all Chief Education Officers (CEOs).

The document states that a total of 5,367 (Five Thousand Three Hundred Sixty-Seven) General Line Teacher vacancies have been identified and reported for de-freezing. However, the proposal remains subject to verification of records and approval by the competent authority before any final decision is taken.

The communication was issued in response to directions conveyed by the Administrative Department seeking detailed information regarding vacancies proposed for de-freezing for the recruitment of General Line Teachers.

The Directorate has also enclosed district-wise details of the identified vacancies in Annexure-A for further necessary action and consideration by the Administrative Department.

This development is being closely watched by thousands of educated unemployed youth and teacher aspirants awaiting fresh recruitment opportunities in the School Education Department.

It is important to note that no recruitment notification has been issued so far. The proposal is currently under consideration, and further decisions will depend upon verification and approval by the competent authorities.
