Kishtwar, June 27, 2026: In a significant administrative achievement, Kishtwar district has successfully completed 100% of the House Listing and Housing Census (HLB) operations under Phase-I of Census-2027, emerging as one of the first districts in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir to accomplish this milestone.

According to the progress report dated June 26, 2026, all 556 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) across the district have been successfully covered, marking full completion of the first phase of the Census exercise.

The achievement was accomplished under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer, Kishtwar, Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS). Despite the district's challenging terrain and remote habitations, the administration ensured the timely completion of the exercise through coordinated efforts and the dedication of field functionaries.

Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma appreciated the commitment and hard work of all officers and officials associated with the Census operations, acknowledging their crucial role in achieving the milestone.

He also expressed gratitude to the people of Kishtwar for their wholehearted cooperation, which contributed significantly to the smooth and successful completion of the House Listing operations.

With the successful completion of Phase-I, Kishtwar has laid a strong foundation for the upcoming Population Enumeration Phase of Census-2027, reinforcing the district's commitment to efficient governance and effective implementation of national initiatives.
