BSNL Tower Theft Case Solved Within Hours; Property Worth ₹4.5 Lakh Recovered by Bakshi Nagar Police



JAMMU, June 2026: In a major success against property crimes, Bakshi Nagar Police have solved a theft case involving BSNL telecom tower equipment within hours and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹4.5 lakh.

According to police officials, the case surfaced after BSNL representatives reported the theft of DVRs and allied equipment from telecom tower installations in the Shakti Nagar area. Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police Station Bakshi Nagar registered FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an intensive investigation.
Under the supervision of the SDPO City West, a dedicated investigation team led by PSI Abhimanyu, assisted by HC Mohd Arshid Hussain and other police personnel, conducted extensive technical and field investigations. The team analyzed CCTV footage from the areas surrounding the crime scenes to identify the suspects.
During the investigation, police developed a crucial lead regarding a Swift car allegedly used in the commission of the crime. Acting on the information, the vehicle was traced and one accused was apprehended from Raghunath Bazaar.
Further interrogation of the accused, combined with technical evidence, revealed the involvement of two additional associates. Police subsequently conducted raids at Raghunath Bazaar and Beli Charana under the leadership of SHO Bakshi Nagar, along with PSI Abhimanyu, PSI Amir Syed, HC Mohd Arshid Hussain and other members of the investigating team.
During the raids, police recovered six stolen DVRs, wires, tools and other equipment linked to the theft. The recovered property has been valued at approximately ₹4.5 lakh.
Police officials stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the remaining accused and to determine whether they were involved in any similar theft cases. Further investigation is underway.
The successful detection of the case, arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen property within a short period highlight the efficiency and commitment of Bakshi Nagar Police in protecting public assets and securing critical infrastructure.
